You may have heard me complain a time or two about the color of our house. The outside is painted the blandest beige I’ve ever seen. And the trim is another shade of beige (yay). It’s just middle-of-the-road and boring. Even our front door was beige, which left the outside looking so flat and one…
I hate mud. I hate wood floors and mud. I hate kids and mud. I’m type-A, after all, and messes freak me out. When we moved to Colorado from California, I realized I had a new battle to deal with: winter boots covered in snow and mud that just wouldn’t quit – oh, and 3…
Ever since we moved into our house in April 2015, I have wanted a new dining room table and chairs. Not only had my taste significantly changed from when we first purchased our modern-styled set some 4 or 5 years ago, but it really didn’t fit the space available in our new house. Our table…
48 hours until Christmas. And I finally finished decorating my house for the holidays. Yay, me! I had most of it done in early December, but then I had those last few things left to do and I never did them… go figure. But we had some friends over for a holiday party last night,…
This post is a long time in the making. Because sometimes DIY projects take me FOREVER to complete. The home we purchased earlier this year was a flip, which is great because of lot of it was new. The downside that everything was very generic to please the masses and didn’t have a whole lot…
When we first moved into our house, our small pantry had a bi-fold closet door on it. This was a problem for two reasons: The already small opening to the pantry was made even smaller when you opened the door and pushed it to one side. It was lame. I knew even before we moved in that it…
Our new home has two small bathrooms. Like most women, I’ve always had big dreams of a giant master bathroom with a soaker tub where I could lock the door and escape… but of course, we can’t have everything we want. A master bath is one of the things we sacrificed when we decided to…
At our old house, we had a tiny entryway where we all fumbled over one another trying to remove our shoes and coats before we got mud and dirt everywhere (especially in the winter). There was very little space to hang coats or backpacks or purses, and even less to store shoes. It was my…
Hear that? It’s a huge sigh of relief coming from yours truly. I have been working on finishing the kids’ shared room since before Graham came along (which happened in June of last year), and I have FINALLY finished all the things I had wanted to do. Of course, there will always be more and…
You might remember a couple of months ago when I shared photos of some rather inspiring playrooms and play areas here on the blog. I started researching them when I realized we were in serious need of a playroom for our older two kids; our house felt overwhelmed with toys and sometimes I just can’t deal with a 2 and a 4 year old running circles around our kitchen and living room, even if they are laughing and having fun. So creating a play area in the basement seemed like the most logical idea.
