So because I’m in my own little world, it wasn’t until Tuesday morning when I woke up and starting checking my social media streams that I realized it was National Teacher Appreciation Day… oops. So I dropped my daughter off at Preschool and started brainstorming what I could pull together to bring with me three hours later when I picked her up.
In searching for “teacher appreciation gifts” on Pinterest, I came across a plant and tag that said “thanks for helping me grow…” and my wheels began to turn.
Mother’s Day is on its way, which means it’s time for another round-up of DIY gift ideas! I’ve seen some really great ones lately that I am excited to feature.
I particularly love the new take on the family tree made of butterflies, and the DIY clay pots for succulents – something I have never done, but it looks easy enough that I think I might try it!
Bwaaaaahh! It’s the weekend before Christmas – even scarier, it’s 4 days until Christmas! Yesterday I found myself scrambling for last minute gift ideas to give to neighbors, friends, and teachers. Clearly, I did not plan ahead…
But if you’re in the same boat, don’t worry! I found some great last-minute ideas that you DIY in a couple of hours. They won’t add much more to your (most likely) depleted Christmas budget, but they are still full of love and super cute.
I rarely buy wrapping paper. It just seems like such a waste since you only use it once. Besides, I throw away so much paper throughout the year, it’s just as easy (and cheaper) to reuse some of it for wrapping gifts.
I’ve been so crazy-busy lately with the launch of I Tried A Pin, prepping for a local craft boutique (sneak peek to come – I may put some of the leftovers up in my Etsy shop after the boutique!), and crafting up some Christmas gifts… Oh yeah, and taking care of two kids, working part time, paying bills, grocery shopping, cooking, and freelancing. But hey, that’s nothing right?
My 2 1/2 year old loves cowboys. I’m not even sure where the obsession first began, but she started running around with anything she could find that was similar to a rope and yelling, “Yee-haw, I a cowboy!” So naturally, I figured making her a cowgirl for Halloween would be simple; she wouldn’t throw a…
Mother’s Day is a little over a week away and there are lots of free printables floating around the internet that would make for a great, frugal gift for mom! Some of these would make great gifts for grandma, and if it’s something you’d like, there’s still time to send the link to the Mr. (they often need our help, after all).
Here are some of my favorite free printables for Mother’s Day:
This Christmas is truly a DIY holiday for my family. The budget is tight and my project list is growing. Not only am I making several of my gifts this year (which I enjoy, and love to give anyway), but I have also found tons of Christmas decorations that I am looking forward to making… whether or not I actually find time to make them remains to be seen.
My mother is a huge fan of both takeout. [sidenote: In her defense, she works the graveyard shift, so when she wakes up after a day of sleeping there isn’t much time for her to cook a meal before getting ready for work] She also loves herself some coupons; I guess that’s where I get my frugal nature from.
So for Mother’s Day this year, I thought I would make her a takeout menu/coupon binder to hold all her goodies (especially since her current organization method consists of an old, decrepit paper folder). The materials only cost me around $7.50, and assembly was no more than an hour or two process. I’ve seen these online and in bookstores for around $20, and they are half the size of the one I made, which just isn’t big enough for some coupon flyers.
I’m either an awesome, crafty parent or a really crappy one. It depends on how you look at.
I made a bunch of DIY gifts for Mia’s Preschool teachers this year, and while I got “ooo’s” and “ahhh’s,” from them and “how do you find the time?”, only I knew that I had whipped them up last minute and DIYing was the best I could come up with…
