Summer is almost upon us. Sometimes it sneaks up on us just like Christmas tends to; and before you know it, the entire summer is gone and you feel like you didn’t accomplish a single thing that you planned to. Don’t let this summer pass you by! Here are five ways you can be prepared for and totally rock this summer.
5 Ways To Rock This Summer
1. Get a plan
Thanks to the internet, you don’t even have to come up with your own plan! Print out a summer to-do list like this one, or use a summer bucket list from this post.
2. Head outdoors
Enjoy the summer sun and fresh air with some outdoor activities that the entire family will enjoy. Fishing at a local pond and Geocaching are just two of the great [free] ideas you can find here.
3. Throw an outdoor dinner party
Here’s the great thing about summer: everybody is lazy and everybody just wants to hang out and eat good food in the backyard – and, bonus, the kids can even get away with a late bedtime! The dinner party pictures from The Fresh Exchange blog are making me want to throw 900 summer dinner parties. I just want to eat, drink, eat, eat, and chat. And then, maybe eat some more (dessert, ya’ll). So gather your friends – kids or no kids – and throw a killer outdoor dinner party. Or, if you’d rather throw a day party, how about a luau?
4. Test out new desserts (have the kids help!)
These grilled peaches have my mouth watering… they’re the perfect summer dessert, when peaches are at their peak.
If peaches aren’t your thing, how about making some homemade popsicles? There are tons of recipes on Pinterest, including this one from Cooking Classy.
5. Write about it
Get the kids in the habit of preserving memories with these summer journaling pages. Not only will they learn to reflect and be grateful for all they were able to do (at least, that’s the hope…), but they’ll be creating a special keepsake that you’ll all enjoy looking back at as the years pass.
