So after reading the MoneySavingMom.com’s book on budgeting (I would totally recommend this if you are living on a budget and trying to save money), I recently decided to put aside my credit card for the next few months and try to only use the cash envelope system.
Best of all? It’s only costs $1.33 per serving according to Beth from Budget Bytes. I was so excited to find her blog, which is full of recipes that are budget-friendly. She breaks each one down and tells you how much it costs per serving so you can see what a great deal you are getting.
I’ve made chicken rice bowls before, as I’m sure you have. It’s easy to throw all your leftovers together with some rice and make a meal of it. But something about this one tasted SO good (I think the secret is in all the spices used). I didn’t really think it tasted like Chipotle as she suggested, but I think it might if I attempt to make Chipotle’s lime cilantro rice and replace the cheddar cheese with mozzarella. Yum.
I just returned from a monumental Target shopping trip. It was monumental for 2 reasons: (1) I only bought what I had on my list (perhaps a first?) – all of which I had at least one coupon for, and (2) I purchased all this stuff for only $26.49.
With Mother’s Day coming up in just a couple of months, it’s a good time to start thinking about some DIY gift ideas. I did a DIY gifts for mom: Part 1 post last Christmas for my Save Money Monday series, and thought it was high time for a follow-up!
There are so many great DIY gift ideas that moms will love, and that extra time and effort put in will not go unnoticed by the one who birthed you (at least I hope).
As soon as I had my daughter I was introduced to the wonderful world of children’s birthday parties. What happened to the days of an ice-cream cake, a couple balloons, and a friendly game of pin the tale on the donkey? It’s no longer an acceptable party unless you’ve got a theme, the proper décor, a spread of food that looks just as good as it tastes, and endless activities for the kids.
Ok, I’m not entirely immune. My daughter’s first birthday and second birthday were carefully planned and executed. I enjoyed creating a thematic party and crafting up a storm, but I also found that it can get so expensive! I “Martha Stewart” my way through most parties in order to save on décor, but then there’s the paper goods, the food, the favors… So how’s a modern mom supposed to stay afloat with today’s birthday party trends and do it on a dime?
Snapfish has a great new service that makes creating unique Valentine’s Day photo collages and gifts a snap (pun intended).
I just came across their new photo suite, which allows you to pick one of three Valentine’s Day templates and add words, letters or drawings (depending on the template) to your own photos to create a V-day masterpiece.
With a new year beginning, I have another opportunity to try and get organized and get things done! With a baby on the way and a toddler turning two next week (yikes!), most of the projects I want to finish center around completing their bedrooms, as well as my own, which is getting its very own crafting corner.
I’ve made a huge “to-do” list for myself and the Mr., and the following ten projects are ones that I pledge to finish this year, gosh darnit. I’ll let you know my progress; be sure and hold me accountable!
What a crazy weekend! We attended Christmas parties on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, not to mention we had doctor appointments for myself and my daughter, grocery shopping, errand running, gift wrapping, laundry, housecleaning, bible study… phew. It didn’t feel like much of a weekend with all that stuff going on. Surprisingly, this week before Christmas looks like it’s going to be a little bit slower and I’m really looking forward to it!
As you get ready to finish up your last week at work before the holiday break and you attend Christmas parties with friends, I’ve put together some ideas for last-minute DIY gift ideas for coworkers and friends. If you’re on a budget and love to give handmade gifts, then you might just find something here to make and give. Most of them can be done quickly too, so you’ll have plenty of time in these last few days before Christmas.
Are you still needing to order your Christmas cards? I haven’t even taken our family photos yet… yikes. Anyway, there are some great deals on photo cards right now if you are getting ready to order, and a few other deals on photo gifts that would be great for anyone on your list:
