I’ve reached the 7 month mark, and compared to my last pregnancy, I feel HUGE. Either this kid is going be ginormous, or it really is all left up to the fact that you show earlier and possibly bigger than your first pregnancy [sidenote: Did you know “ginormous” is in the dictionary? I actually had to look up how to spell it, even though I was sure it wasn’t a real word. Turns out, it is.].
I’m pretty uncomfortable these days to be honest… if I slouch, the baby is all up in my ribs, and if I sit up straight, the bottom of my belly (where he also, coincidentally, takes up space) pushes up against my legs – and forget about crossing my legs! I can’t believe I have 2 more months and another potential 10-15 pounds to gain. Yikes.
I am so excited for the Rory Beca spring collection launching at Forever21 online and in stores later this month. Known for her use of prints and bold color, Rory brings sexy, feminine silhouettes to her spring collection. How gorgeous are these chiffon pieces? I can’t wait to snatch some up!
I know it’s not just me… it is so hard to find affordable, trendy maternity clothing! Would I love to shop at a Pea in the Pod? Yes. Do I have $50 to spend on a blouse? No. I am only going to wear it for a few months, and there’s no guarantee that I’ll be getting pregnant again, so spending a fortune is out of the question.
Trying to find cute maternity clothes on a budget has been a hassle, so I’ve mostly been shopping sales at Motherhood Maternity (mostly the Pea in the Pod stuff), Old Navy, and The Gap.
There were some real standouts on last night’s red carpet. I am as convinced as ever that “best dressed” refers to more than just the dress – it’s about the whole look head to toe; the hair, the makeup, the jewels, the shoes, and, of course, the dress.
I believe it was back in 2006 when I watched “Failure to Launch” that I originally fell in love with Zooey Deschanel. I watched the film because I’m an SJP fan, but I quickly realized that Zooey’s character was the only saving grace in that movie.
Now I’m addicted to her show on FOX, “New Girl,” both for the quirky comedic element, and her adorable (coined “adorkable” by FOX) style. Zooey dresses adorably in real life as well, but I am so drawn to her mod style on “New Girl.”
As I hit the 5-month mark in my pregnancy, I’m figuring out how best to dress my body. One thing I’ve observed: loose fitting shirts/dresses make me look shapeless and less pregnant (not pretty). So my solution? A belt!
Have you heard? Jason Wu is releasing a line for Target available for purchase on February 5th! I recently mentioned how much I have loved Jason Wu ever since he designed Michelle Obama’s stunning white dress for the Inaugural Ball back in 2009, and I loved seeing designers wearing him at this past Sunday’s Golden Globe awards. Now his feminine, modern style will be hitting Target stores at extremely affordable prices.
Lucky Magazine recently put out their list of the top trends from 2011, and the must-haves for 2012. Quite frankly, I’m a little surprised by the 2012 list, but we’ll get to that in a minute. Let’s start with some of the top trends of 2011:
As I approach the 18-week mark, I am still getting used to dressing my body for a growing belly. The trick is not wearing something ultra-baggy so you can’t tell I’m pregnant (because then you have the “did she just eat a really big lunch?” problem), but also finding tops that are long enough to fit over the belly and pants that are comfortable at the waistline.
Here’s what I wore today. Scroll down for some tips on dressing in the 2nd trimester!
It could be because it’s been so cold out lately, or maybe it’s because I’m almost 4 months pregnant, but the only thing I want to wear these days are sweatpants…
Unfortunately I own mostly jeans, and due to the expanding belly, I have to wear them with a bellaband, unbuttoned and (lately) unzipped. It’s not the most comfortable thing to wear; especially when you spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer. My poor baby is probably begging for some less restricted space.
