I’ve got another fashion obsession… they come and go, in case you haven’t noticed. My most recent have included kimonos, maxi skirts, and menswear looks. But with the recent start of spring, I am drooling over pastel looks. Everyone from Jason Wu to Ralph Lauren debuted pastels on their spring 2014 runways and it’s now hitting stores to welcome in the blossoming season.
There’s just something about the softness of pastels… tell me you don’t just look at them and feel giddy, girly, and ready for spring?
One of the great things about pastels is that there aren’t a lot of rules when it comes to wearing them. You’ll see in the {pin}spiring looks below that some girls wore just one pastel item, while others mix two or three pastel colors – and both look great! Pastels can create an amazing colorblocked look if you aren’t afraid of wearing color. If you’re more of a neutrals person, pick one pastel item (like a great pair of jeans) and wear it in place of your usual neutral color; pair it with a white top and you’re good to go, subtle yet stylish.
I’ve gathered some of my favorite pastel looks that are floating around Pinterest to give you some inspiration on how to wear this trend for spring. Don’t be afraid to go girly (I am loving pastel peter pan collars mixed with short pleated skirts!), and try it at the office, too! And don’t be worried about wasting your money on something that won’t last you more than one season – pastels are seamlessly transitioning into fall these days and add a little brightness to an otherwise drab color palette.
And for that I say, pastels #FTW.
