You’re all in for a treat today because my good friend, Michelle, from Just Watching My Garden Grow is here to share with us a tutorial for her recent gender reveal. Michelle is pregnant with baby #3, and despite being a teacher and taking care of her family, she also finds time to craft on a regular basis; and, she ‘s one of the craftiest ladies I know! So take it away, Michelle…
A while back I found this three-tiered stand on TheCraftingChicks.com and was inspired to make my own for a table centerpiece. We constantly have fruit in the house and I needed something cute to display it on.
Last week I mentioned we put a lot of work into our backyard over the three-day weekend. We’ve had a big backyard with practically nothing in it for the longest time; I just haven’t had the energy or the funds to do something really exciting. But a few months ago, I starting running across ideas on Pinterest and one day just started sketching up a plan. Most of it included DIY projects, and all we needed to purchase were 2 chairs, plants, and materials.
I can’t believe how fast the summer has gone… it’s slightly depressing, but then I am really excited to dust off my boots and scarves and usher in the fall season! October will be here in a month and it’s already time to start thinking about Halloween. Ideas are popping up all over the internet,…
A while back, I found an adorable oval frame at the flea market for $5. I probably could have talked the lady down, but I’m a horrible negotiator, so I just paid it. Anywhoo, it didn’t have any glass and had a sad wire on the back for hanging (with only one side actually attached to the frame). I’ve held onto it for a while, and recently came across some artwork that sparked an idea in my head.
The summer will soon be coming to a close { insert unified “boo” here }, and to make the most of it I gathered up some of my favorite summer ideas to squeeze into the final weeks. Try out some of these with your kiddos and end the summer on a high note.
When I had my daughter and decided to use cloth diapers, I knew I also wanted to make a reusable pail liner instead of using trash bags (both to save money and to be more “green”). Most pail liners retail for anywhere from $15-30 online, but I knew I could make one cheaper by purchasing PUL (polyurethane laminate) at Jo-Ann Fabrics – especially if I used a coupon.
Do you remember this ugly frame I picked up a while back at a yard sale for $3?
I’ve been hemming and hawing over what to do with it, and finally decided to turn it into a burlap-covered bulletin board for my office area. I have wall space that is perfect for a large statement piece like this (the frame is 35” x 24”). So this weekend, I finally got working on it.
When greeting cards jumped to $3.99 and above, I decided a boycott was in order. I can’t justify spending almost $5 on something that gets read and quickly thrown out. I’m pretty sure my gift recipient would rather I spend that $5 on their gift instead of a card, anyways.
A few months ago, my girlfriend gave me her son’s play kitchen since he had outgrown it. My daughter loves banging the pots and pans and pushing the microwave buttons while saying “beep, beep, beep.” I know she’ll have more creative play with it as she grows (like actually pretending to cook instead of just shoving her stuffed animals in the oven and saying “uh oh!”).
