Tips for photographing pumpkin carving (and other fun events)
I’m still working on how best to document yearly events – like pumpkin carving – through photography. I like to make sure I capture the entirety of the event, taking pictures throughout. I tend to take less artsy photos of the details and focus more on my kids, and I think that’s ok. Here are…
Neiman Marcus & Target offer designer gifts for less
Did you hear? Dollar store craft: Autumn tree
Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch and I wore a sweater… and I didn’t sweat! Then it actually rained. And I haven’t turned the air conditioner on in a week. In short, fall is finally here and I couldn’t be happier (I am going to pretend to be blissfully unaware that it is supposed to be 90 degrees this Sunday here in SoCal).
Because of the cooler weather, I was in the mood to do some fall crafting with my preschooler so I headed to the Dollar Tree and picked up some supplies. Have you ever seen dot art? There’s a company called Do-A-Dot that makes paints for kids that come in a tube with a sponge applicator tip, which offers a mess-free way for them to paint by dotting the paper. Well, I remembered seeing a similar product at the Dollar Tree, the only difference is that they are actually Bingo stampers and are not washable like the Do-A-Dot paints (at least it doesn’t say so on the label).
DIY pumpkin tee for $1 (No-Sew)
We were headed to the pumpkin patch this weekend and I decided at the last minute that I wanted my daughter to wear something festive. She didn’t own anything orange, black, or fall looking, so I ran to the Dollar Tree and picked up a white tee shirt for $1. Then I created my own…
DIY Halloween costume idea: Lion hat
Source: sweetpeatoadtots on Etsy If I had any clue how to crochet, I would totally make this lion hat for my little man for Halloween. I suppose I could just buy a crocheted bonnet and string the yarn through on my own. Or, I could just purchase it from this Etsy shop and quit pretending like…
Last-minute Halloween decor
Halloween is two weeks away… and I haven’t put up any decorations. The sad thing is, I have a ton of them just sitting in a bin in the garage, I just don’t have the energy to get them out. What’s with my holiday apathy all of a sudden? I’ll chalk it up to my…
DIY bowtie bib
My little man is quite the drooler. It’s possible that at 4 months he is already teething, or it could just be that he’s one of those kids who’s going to constantly drool for the next few months. Either way, I pretty much need to have a bib on him at all times unless I feel like changing his soaking wet onesie every couple of hours. Did I mention he also spits up all.the.time.?
2012 fall fashion trends & “Look mom! I’m on TV!”
Last week I was fortunate enough to attend an event at a local outlet center, The Outlets at Orange, where top stores like Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom Rack, and Saks OFF 5th shared their thoughts on the top fall trends for 2012.
Printing on paper bags {round-up}
I remember seeing a while back that you can print on a paper bag, and I’m not sure why I hadn’t thought about it before. They are, after all, made of paper.
This morning in my inbox I saw an email from Paper Coterie with a free printable Halloween treat bag design, and it got me thinking about all the cute paper bag designs I’ve across in the past.
I decided to compile them here for a little inspiration and as a reminder that treats and gift wrap can be affordable and adorable!
