Praise Jesus! I am no longer wearing maternity clothes! I am three weeks postpartum, and my new challenge is covering up my postpartum tummy. I am lucky enough to have quickly lost majority of my baby weight, but I’ve still got “the pooch.” This loose-fitting dress with a blouson top covers up my flaws quite nicely.

4th of July party ideas
The 4th will be here next week, and I’m just getting around to doing some decorating (blame the new baby). I started searching the web for ideas and got really inspired by this nautical themed display from Andersruff.com:
Mother of two… going it alone
It’s been two weeks since I had Lincoln, and today is the first day I’m going it alone.
I was lucky enough to have my husband home with me for two whole weeks, but today he had to return to the office. What’s worse? I have to venture out of the house because we are almost out of diapers… so much for easing into it.
Funny how going out of the house with two requires so much thought and preparation… do I take the tandem stroller, or leave the baby in the carseat and use a cart? Or maybe I should put the baby in the sling… What time should I go? It has to be planned around feedings and naptime… What do I need to put in the diaper bag in case of emergency?… I’m exhausted just contemplating it all.
I was pretty fearful about taking care of them by myself a week ago, but after a couple of trial runs this week, I’m not so scared. For the most part, I think I need to focus on having patience with my toddler. The baby is easy, albeit demanding. Mia, on the other hand, requires a watchful eye due to her constant curiosity.
Summer Bucket List Printables (freebies)
I am so excited to start celebrating the summer with my kids. Even though my littlest is a newborn, 2 kids seems like reason enough to do lots of fun things this summer. My husband’s new work schedule will allow him to be home more often during the week as well, which multiplies the possibilities!
I’m pretty lame and don’t have good ideas for summer activities, but luckily there are lots of moms out there who are far better at it than myself and they offer some great free printables for the rest of us.
Here are some of my favorites:
Vintage nautical stripes
It’s almost officially summer, and I’ve got the urge to go a little “vintage nautical.” I was inspired by a vintage photo I found on Pinterest, and from there I couldn’t stop dreaming about navy stripes, summer sun, Audrey flats, and sailboats…
Will you be joining in on the nautical trend this summer? There are an awful lot of options out there – just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Father’s Day baseball vouchers (free printables)
I don’t know about you, but my husband loves himself some baseball. As luck would have it, so do I, and we have lots of happy memories of attending Dodger games together (most of them before we had kids).
Lincoln’s birth story
I am so grateful and happy to announce that Lincoln Raymond-David Taylor finally made his arrival Wednesday, June 6th at 2:25 p.m. He was a healthy 8 lbs. 4.5 oz.
Sorry things have been so quiet around here lately, but we have been enjoying our new little boy and getting acclimated to life with two kids (which is quite a change!).
My last pregnant day
I can hardly believe it, but today will be my last full day pregnant (for this baby, anyways). Tomorrow morning we are heading to the hospital to be induced, just shy of 41 weeks. Since I had my first child early at 38 weeks, I feel like I’ve been overdue for weeks now!
It’s interesting what you have time to contemplate when you know the day that you will be having your baby. When it happens on its own, you don’t give much thought to things beforehand, since you never really know or expect when it’s going to happen. But this time around, I’ve been running (more like waddling) all over the house making sure everything is ready, taking time to freak out about adding another child into the mix, contemplating just how much sleep I will soon be losing out on, and, perhaps on a more positive note, spending a lot of quality time with the Mr. and my little girl before we go from a family of 3 to a family of 4.
DIY Father’s Day Cards
Itching to make your own Father’s Day card this year? I always love homemade cards over store-bought, especially on special occasions like Father’s Day. Here are some of my favorite ideas, including some for the kiddos to help out with!
Cash envelope system (free printable)
So after reading the MoneySavingMom.com’s book on budgeting (I would totally recommend this if you are living on a budget and trying to save money), I recently decided to put aside my credit card for the next few months and try to only use the cash envelope system.
