Did you know that August is national picnic month? Well, in honor of all things picnic, I’ve come up with a little wish list. If I were going on a picnic (which, quite frankly, I don’t do often enough), I would want some of these things in my arsenal:
I was super excited last week to spend a day shopping with my girlfriend; especially since all my clothes were at least a year old and ill-fitting because of my recent pregnancy.
I was desperately in need of pants that fit and some tops that weren’t tight in the midsection – you know, just until I get my six-pack back… (that’s a joke).
We stopped by Anthropologie (usually against my better judgment), and were happy to find that they were having a sale with an additional 30% off their clearance. That’s how I snatched up this dress for only $24; it’s practically unheard of at Anthro! I had visions of pairing the navy stripes with a neon belt, and was thrilled to find this one on clearance at Old Navy the very next day for only $4.95.
This dress has been perfect for our 85-degree, super-humid weather!
I love the color mustard. I am a blonde girl with very, very pale skin, and I just can’t wear traditional yellow – so I compensate with mustard. I can’t wait to incorporate more of it into my summer wardrobe, especially after seeing collages like this one from Our Dream Lives. Stylish ladies in mustard really inspire me! Wait until you see the mustard belt I just bought on clearance for $4.95… It’s my new fave.
Praise Jesus! I am no longer wearing maternity clothes! I am three weeks postpartum, and my new challenge is covering up my postpartum tummy. I am lucky enough to have quickly lost majority of my baby weight, but I’ve still got “the pooch.” This loose-fitting dress with a blouson top covers up my flaws quite nicely.
I am so excited to start celebrating the summer with my kids. Even though my littlest is a newborn, 2 kids seems like reason enough to do lots of fun things this summer. My husband’s new work schedule will allow him to be home more often during the week as well, which multiplies the possibilities!
I’m pretty lame and don’t have good ideas for summer activities, but luckily there are lots of moms out there who are far better at it than myself and they offer some great free printables for the rest of us.
It’s almost officially summer, and I’ve got the urge to go a little “vintage nautical.” I was inspired by a vintage photo I found on Pinterest, and from there I couldn’t stop dreaming about navy stripes, summer sun, Audrey flats, and sailboats…
Will you be joining in on the nautical trend this summer? There are an awful lot of options out there – just don’t forget the sunscreen!
The summer will soon be coming to a close { insert unified “boo” here }, and to make the most of it I gathered up some of my favorite summer ideas to squeeze into the final weeks. Try out some of these with your kiddos and end the summer on a high note.
It’s happened again. Colored jeans seems to go in and out every few seasons, and it looks like they are “in” once again. I’ve always had a hard time jumping on the bandwagon, because all I can think about are the awful dark green ones I had in elementary school that I wore with a hideous floral child-size onesie… (remember when those stretchy bodysuits were in style? The ones that snapped at the crotch? Why did anyone think it was ok to wear a onesie passed the age of toddlerhood? But I digress…)
4th of July will be here in just a couple of days, and if you’re finding yourself in a pinch in terms of décor and ideas, there’s still time! Check out the goodies featured in my first roundup of July 4th ideas (which included some great pinwheels, decorations, food & fashion ideas), and then see some of the fun below. A weekend is plenty of time to prepare for a big 4th of July bash!
Last week I got an old window from a girlfriend and quickly went to work hanging and decorating it. I have been dying to hang old windows in my house, and when she offered me some, I practically pounced on her!
