With a new camera lens and a new baby in the house, I’ve been snapping pictures like crazy. I had several poses I wanted to try with Lincoln, and spent a few different afternoons torturing him by placing him in ridiculous positions. Poor baby!
I was totally inspired last week when I ran across this tutorial on Make It and Love It for transforming a purse into a camera bag. I have probably the ugliest camera bag around… and it’s not big enough to hold extra lenses. We purchased it quickly because we needed it and didn’t really worry too much about the design. But as I’ve acquired more lenses and started carrying my camera around more, I realized it’s really impractical (did I mention ugly?).
Since cute camera bags cost an arm and a leg (upwards of $100), I think I’ll probably end up following a tutorial like this one to transform an affordable bag into a camera bag. I love that Ashley on Make It and Love It also uses the compartments to hold things like keys, diapers, toys, and snacks; I usually carry my camera around when I have a diaper bag full of stuff for my daughter anyway, so why not combine the two?
I am loving some of the bags at Forever21 right now, like this striped canvas bag (left, $27.80). But I’m also thinking that a faux leather messenger bag (right, $19.50) might be a good option so that I can convince my husband to carry it sometimes too!
Snapfish has a great new service that makes creating unique Valentine’s Day photo collages and gifts a snap (pun intended).
I just came across their new photo suite, which allows you to pick one of three Valentine’s Day templates and add words, letters or drawings (depending on the template) to your own photos to create a V-day masterpiece.
For Mia’s 2nd birthday, we threw her a rousing vintage circus party. Mia got into my coverup and rubbed it all over her face like a brush… Fun in the photo booth at Mia’s party. We took family photos to send out “Happy New Year” cards (because Christmas came a little too fast this year, and holiday cards just weren’t going to happen) Mia’s cousin JJ came to visit from WA and the two had so much fun playing together; especially when he played guitar and she danced. Mia’s two favorite birthday gifts: A vacuum cleaner, and a fur leopard vest. The two go so well together. Happy 2nd birthday Mia!
I’m not sure if I can claim photography as a true hobby, but I definitely aspire to be a better photographer and practice often. I took a photography class a couple of years ago that taught me a lot about lighting, perspective, and developing photos. We actually had to step into a darkroom and develop film, which seems a little archaic these days; and although it wasn’t my favorite part of the process, it taught me a lot about the creative elements of a photograph.
I’ve been using these photo overlays for my current Project Life album so I can keep track of what day each picture was taken. I made the frame myself, and the font used is Becky Higgins’ free font from her site.
I wanted to make my overlays accessible to you in case you were also PL-ing, or just wanted them to document your everyday photos. To download, click on the link below. The zipped file contains overlays for each day of the week (monday-sunday), in both .psd and .png formats. Anyone can open a .png file, but .psd files are only for those with Photoshop. Enjoy!
