I started decorating the house for Halloween this weekend, but was lacking some inspiration so, as usual, I turned to the trusty internet. I tend to shy away from hokey orange and black, skeletons, and fake legs stuck under closed doors, and lean more towards the classic black and white Halloween décor. I came across…
A while back I found this three-tiered stand on TheCraftingChicks.com and was inspired to make my own for a table centerpiece. We constantly have fruit in the house and I needed something cute to display it on.
Last week I mentioned we put a lot of work into our backyard over the three-day weekend. We’ve had a big backyard with practically nothing in it for the longest time; I just haven’t had the energy or the funds to do something really exciting. But a few months ago, I starting running across ideas on Pinterest and one day just started sketching up a plan. Most of it included DIY projects, and all we needed to purchase were 2 chairs, plants, and materials.
How could I not have the baby bug after looking at these cute nursery photos? Right now I’m stuck on two trends: colorful, vintage inspired nurseries, and muted color palettes with soft pastel accents.
Oh how I long for an adorable nursery with a cozy, sweet-smelling little baby to put in it!
Last week I got an old window from a girlfriend and quickly went to work hanging and decorating it. I have been dying to hang old windows in my house, and when she offered me some, I practically pounced on her!
My office space and dining area sit next to one another, separated by an open wall. I have big dreams of how I’d like to redecorate my office space, but for now I have to utilize what I’ve got and get creative. Currently, my printer and supplies sit on an open metal bookshelf, which can be seen in the dining and living area (somebody call the ugly police).
So while I’d eventually like to get a closed cabinet for all this stuff to hide it away, for now I decided to go the cheap route and hang a curtain between the two spaces to cover the bookshelf and add some separation. I was dying for some chevron fabric (it’s really the only pattern I can think about these days), but was having a hard time finding some at an affordable price. Finally, I stumbled upon Hodi & Poppi fabrics who had the perfect fabric at a reasonable price (they have adorable fabrics and fabulous customer service, by the way!).
Last Christmas, I used a tutorial I found on Craftily Ever After to make frames covered with wrapping paper and filled them with a family photo for my parents. Since then, I’ve adapted the process a bit and used some different materials to create fun frames that add a bit of character to any room. They’re great to give as gifts, and only cost about $2 each to make, assuming you have some of the materials (they’re even cheaper if you buy materials in bulk and make multiples to have on hand).
I love fresh flowers, but I can never justify spending money on something that withers and dies three days later. So I came up with a way to get the most out my money when it comes to buying flowers.
