I love fresh flowers, but I can never justify spending money on something that withers and dies three days later. So I came up with a way to get the most out my money when it comes to buying flowers.
When my husband brings me home a bouquet of flowers (yes, it occasionally happens), I always try to break the bouquet up into multiples. This way, your house will be full of fresh flowers for the price of only one bouquet. Here’s how to do it yourself:
1. Grab your vases or containers. To add some character, use unconventional items; I like to use old milk bottles or water pitchers.
2. Start creating your mini bouquets… The size of each will depend on how many vases you plan on using and what their size is. Try some of these tips:
- Group similar colors together into a bouquet
- Group similar flowers together into a bouquet
- Split up the greenery that come with the bouquet (i.e. leaves, baby’s breath) and put small amounts of each into each bouquet
- Place one large flower in a tiny vase (your bouquet can go a really long way at this rate!)
3. Trim the ends of all the flowers so they are the right height for your chosen vases.
4. Place them around the house and enjoy!
