For Mia’s 2nd birthday, we threw her a rousing vintage circus party.
Mia got into my coverup and rubbed it all over her face like a brush…
Fun in the photo booth at Mia’s party.
We took family photos to send out “Happy New Year” cards (because Christmas came a little too fast this year, and holiday cards just weren’t going to happen)
Mia’s cousin JJ came to visit from WA and the two had so much fun playing together; especially when he played guitar and she danced.
Mia’s two favorite birthday gifts: A vacuum cleaner, and a fur leopard vest. The two go so well together.
Happy 2nd birthday Mia!
Here’s the backstory on my collage:
Last year I did my first Project Life album; an album where you document 365 days of your life. In the beginning, I was great about taking a photo everyday and making sure I journaled and put my week together in the binder each Sunday… but about halfway through the year, I got busier (er, lazier) and less was getting done. I have yet to finish 2011, and by the end of the year I wasn’t taking photos everyday.
I LOVE looking back at my album (the part that I have finished anyway), and remembering the little moments that I surely would have forgotten without it. It’s a great place to put those photos that you take but have nowhere to publish, like the first time your child writes on the wall with a marker, or the dinner you burnt to a crisp.
But this year I was actually looking forward to not doing the album, because I constantly felt so much stress about getting caught up. Don’t get me wrong, I love Project Life and will do it again, but a girl needs a break every once in a while (especially in a year when planning for a new baby’s arrival). I realized after 2012 started that I was mourning the loss of a place to document our everyday life; until I came across another option on Simple as That.
Rebecca is an amazing photographer, and came up with a simple single-page design for 7 of your photos from the month. Slap them in her free template (using Photoshop), save, and you’re done! Surely I can find time to take at least 7 photos in a month. At the end of the year, I can easily upload the whole collage into a photo album on someplace like Snapfish or Shutterfly.
I’d like to also do some journaling throughout the year for each month, and I found these great free downloadable journaling cards from Miss Tiina. I plan to type on them using Photoshop and slap them in my book at the end of the year.
Year documented and problem solved!
