I just returned from Las Vegas this morning where my husband and I had a wonderful 5-year anniversary celebration. It was a blissful 4 days without our daughter (whom we missed very much), full of relaxation, fun, and food (buffets, anyone?).
I didn’t get all my outfits photographed, and most of them ended up on my phone instead of our camera, so the quality isn’t terrific. Although I had the best of intentions, it turns out it’s not all that fun to carry around a heavy SLR camera (hence the phone photos), nor did I feel super cool posing in the middle of the strip like a cooky tourist (hence the lack of photos).
So here are four of the looks I did manage to capture. Keep in mind the temperature was a brisk 108 most of the time, so I am most likely sweating in all of these photos; although I like to say that I “glow” instead of sweat…
- Look #1: The day we arrived, I wore a ruffle tank top (Old Navy), printed skirt with pockets (thrifted), sandals (Old Navy), and a messenger bag (Forever21). Later in the evening we went to see the Cirque du Soleil Beatles LOVE show, and I threw a black 3/4 sleeve blazer over the tank to class it up a bit.
- Look #2: On Monday night we headed to a fancy dinner at Mix Restaurant, which is on top of the Mandalay Bay hotel and has a stunning view of the strip. I wore this plum dress with black patent belt (H&M), black flats (Urban Outfitters) – I rarely wear heels around my hubby who is a good 4 inches shorter than myself, my Anthropologie necklace, and carried an oversized black patent clutch (H&M).
- Look #3: On Tuesday morning we headed to the pool for a margarita and some people-watching by the lazy river at the MGM hotel (where we stayed). I wore a brown polka dot Target bathing suit from ages ago, and this black and white dress (Forever21). I’ve had this dress forever and wore it all the time while I was pregnant. Now it makes an appearance on super hot days and as a bathing suit cover-up.
- Look #4: On Wednesday morning we headed home. I opted for something comfy so I wore this black jumper (Old Navy). It’s from last season, so to update it a bit, I traded out the black sash that came with it for a chunky brown belt. I paired it with sandals (Old Navy), a white lace cami (Old Navy), and a heart/key locket just purchased while in Vegas at H&M. Only problem with this outfit is that you have to strip down in order to pee at the airport… not fun.
While traveling, I try and pack light, so I wore my same black sandals almost every day. I also recycled the same three necklaces and the same messenger bag/purse.
What do you like to wear on vacation? Do you pack light or really go for it?
