Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch and I wore a sweater… and I didn’t sweat! Then it actually rained. And I haven’t turned the air conditioner on in a week. In short, fall is finally here and I couldn’t be happier (I am going to pretend to be blissfully unaware that it is supposed to be 90 degrees this Sunday here in SoCal).
Because of the cooler weather, I was in the mood to do some fall crafting with my preschooler so I headed to the Dollar Tree and picked up some supplies. Have you ever seen dot art? There’s a company called Do-A-Dot that makes paints for kids that come in a tube with a sponge applicator tip, which offers a mess-free way for them to paint by dotting the paper. Well, I remembered seeing a similar product at the Dollar Tree, the only difference is that they are actually Bingo stampers and are not washable like the Do-A-Dot paints (at least it doesn’t say so on the label).
I picked up a few colors for $1 each and created some tree artwork for my daughter to paint. She insisted on purple leaves, even though I would have preferred orange… Oh well, close enough.
Since these aren’t washable, I made her wear an art shirt. She is super clumsy, so she did knock over the tubes quite a few times, but I was able to get the paint off my wood floor and her art table. The paint that got on her skin needed a good scrub to get it off, but I’d say it was worth it for $1 art.
