Lace garments and insets were a big trend on the spring runways, seen in shows like Carolina Herrera and Jason Wu. It makes sense; the romanticism and femininity that lace evokes is the perfect accompaniment to the budding spring season where hemlines rise and bare shoulders reappear.

Candid Coffee Talk: 5 things you might not know about me
- I was born in Michigan, and moved to CA when I was six. My mom grew up on a farm – cows and fields and the whole deal. Meals like goulash, polish sausage, and sauerkraut were staples in my house growing up, and I never found that to be weird. I had never heard of avocados until I moved to California.
Photo checklist for Mother’s Day {free printable}
Post sponsored by Mom & Pop Photo School – easy photography courses for parents
Every holiday seems like a whirlwind, and by the time you remember to pick up your camera, the kids are just about ready for bed (at least that’s what always happens to me). I find it super helpful to have a checklist handy before going into the day so that I will remember to get some decent photos BEFORE the kids are covered in food and dirt and I looked disheveled and drooled on.
In the shop: Mother’s Day cards & artwork
I’ve been working on quite a few new shop designs for Mother’s Day and am having so much fun with them!
I love creating products to honor someone we love; it’s easy to draw inspiration and I know that they will be meaningful to the recipient, which makes it all the more worth it.
That being said, I like poking some fun at my mom too, as evidenced by my “casserole” card below.
My favorite green products (In honor of Earth Day)
Monday, April 22 is Earth Day; and it’s the perfect time to stop and think about how we can help protect our precious environment one small step at a time (because there are lots of little things we can do).
I have long been an advocate for green living, and over the years have found some products that are not only good for the environment, but end up saving me money, too.
So in honor of Earth Day, I thought I would share some of my favorite “green” products with you!
Candid Coffee Talk: I’m a mom. Please don’t judge me for…
…not brushing my daughter’s teeth twice a day, everyday. Isn’t it enough that I have to remember to do my own??
…letting my 10-month-old chew on my shoelaces; hey, he’s quiet and happy, why disrupt that? If he occasionally licks the sole, I might gag a little, but he’ll survive.
New in the shop: Mother’s Day Cards
Mother’s Day is going to be here before we know it… it always seems to happen that way, doesn’t it?
I’ve been working on some Mother’s Day cards for my { Etsy Shop } and am pretty excited about this little “Reasons Why I Love You” series that I created. Most of the reasons were inspired by my own mother… (with the exception of the laundry one, of course).
What she wore: Mixing expensive with bargain & a straw fedora
I’ve always loved dressing my little girl, but lately I’ve really gotten into it.
I’v been making some impulse buys here and there (something I rarely do) and mixing more expensive pieces with bargain pieces, creating some super cute outfits. And when I say “expensive,” I mean $16 from Old Navy… yeah, we’re getting crazy over here.
Candid Coffee Talk: I love sleep.
Sleep. Oh how I love sleep.
You know what disrupts perfectly good sleep? Kids.
I am NOT a morning person. Trust me, you don’t want to encounter me before 10:00 a.m. Although, I can put on a pretty good fake face by 9:00 a.m. so that the other parents at my daughter’s preschool don’t see all my crazy when I drop her off.
Spring fashion trend: Mint green
A couple of months ago, I was putting together my “6 Valentine’s Day Dresses under $30” post, and came across this adorable little mint dress with black peter pan collar – it was love at first site. I bought the dress, but already had something to wear for Valentine’s Day, so I stuck it in my closet for a special occasion.
