WIWW: Neon summer dress

June 26, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Praise Jesus! I am no longer wearing maternity clothes! I am three weeks postpartum, and my new challenge is covering up my postpartum tummy. I am lucky enough to have quickly lost majority of my baby weight, but I’ve still got “the pooch.” This loose-fitting dress with a blouson top covers up my flaws quite nicely.

Vintage nautical stripes

June 15, 2012 | Leave a Comment

It’s almost officially summer, and I’ve got the urge to go a little “vintage nautical.” I was inspired by a vintage photo I found on Pinterest, and from there I couldn’t stop dreaming about navy stripes, summer sun, Audrey flats, and sailboats…

Will you be joining in on the nautical trend this summer? There are an awful lot of options out there – just don’t forget the sunscreen!

WIWW: 38 weeks & a summer hat

Here I am at a glorious 38 weeks… I’m going crazy over here – come out baby, come out!!

Anyway, this week I threw on my new hat from Target while hanging out in the warm SoCal sun. It’s the first hat I’ve owned that doesn’t accentuate my weird cone head. I need a lot of volume on the top to balance things out with my round cheeks, and this hat gives me just that. It’s nice to finally have a hat to wear in public without feeling like I look weird!

My Mother’s Day Celebration

May 16, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Here’s a little snippet from our Mother’s Day dinner on Sunday. We decided to take the morning to celebrate Mother’s Day at home and then meet up with our moms for a joint dinner at night. It ended up being perfect; I got spoiled during the day, and then we got to focus on our mommas later in the day. I would also highly recommend Mother’s Day dinner over brunch to save a few $$!

I realize I am wearing the same dress as I featured in last week’s What I Wore Wednesday post, but give me some credit for switching out the cowboy boots for some flats and adding a leather jacket! My options for dressing up are limited at this point in pregnancy…

In my hair, I wore the same ruffle fascinator that I wore to my baby shower, although you can’t see it in any of the photos.

WIWW: 36 weeks & cowboy boots

May 9, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Another week has passed, and I’m almost officially full-term. I can’t wait to get this baby out! The weight of my tum-tum is really tiring me out (or is it chasing after a 2 1/2 year old that’s doing that?). Well I managed to get some pictures taken today of my little “basketball” as several people have called it. I know, it looks a little fake; but I swear, there’s a baby in there!

Today I was feeling a little bit country and threw on some cowboy boots with my dress to brave the 80-degree weather at the park. As I write this, I’m a bit sweaty after both endeavors. So please excuse the barely-any-makeup look.

what i wore wednesday

This past weekend I was lucky enough to be showered with love and gifts from some of my friends and family. Our baby boy, Lincoln, was spoiled like crazy and received lots of adorable little boy things!

WIWW: 33 weeks

April 16, 2012 | Leave a Comment

This is actually the outfit that I wore for Easter, and it may be the last dress I own that is not maternity but still fits! The dress is from the Liberty of London line that Target carried a year or two ago, and I still love it. I wish they would bring that line back again…

WIWW: Sundress & 31 weeks

April 4, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Time for What I Wore Wednesday!

I’m 31 weeks (actually just about 32), and struggling with a very low belly. I’m not sure if you can really tell in the photos, but this baby has dropped so low that it’s really uncomfortable. Of course, a 31-week belly is uncomfortable enough as it is, regardless of position. You should have seen me trying to paint my toenails yesterday; I was sitting in a very interesting position on the floor and huffing and puffing because I couldn’t breathe. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Maxi skirts for spring

March 27, 2012 | Leave a Comment

I may still be pregnant and unable to wear all the trends, but I think I can pull off the spring maxi skirt. Although, wearing it with a tucked in tank and skinny belt probably won’t work so well… but as soon as my little man is out, that will be my outfit of choice!

WIWW: Plaid & 30 weeks

March 20, 2012 | Leave a Comment

I’m running out of clothes that fit over my huge belly, so I’ve decided to be resourceful. The other day I dug through my “there’s no way I can fit into these anymore” clothes that I had packed up a couple of months ago, and pulled out my plaid shirts. I may not be able to button them, but at least I can use them for layering!

So today I layered to my heart’s content; a lace cami, a ruffle tank, and a plaid shirt.

I get it. It's a little weird. But the girls I've I get it. It's a little weird.
But the girls I've seen do it best, look adorable.

I think it looks best with an oversized tee or sweatshirt, tennies or slides, and a small crossbody bag.

You can't argue with comfort.

For the record, these are women's sleep shorts that I've had a couple of years from Old Navy. If you buy actual men's boxers, you might consider sewing up the pee pocket 😜

Don't spend a lot on this trend; these shorts are made from the thinnest of fabric and shouldn't cost much. Don't be fooled by a retailer that wants you to spend just because it's trendy.

But if you see some cute boxers and want to give it a go - then do! Bonus - if/when the trend ends, you'll have pajamas on the ready 👏

It's solid weekend wear, but I'm not going out to dinner in it...

Another project down in my son's room! I knew I w Another project down in my son's room!

I knew I wanted some sort of built-in feature in this bedroom, but it was hard to figure out what, because we turned it into an active space where he could run and play and needed a lot of room.

So I settled on a built-in bookcase with the slatted design feature, which I'm in love with!

The best part about it is that if he ever decides to upgrade his bed, the space will also accommodate a full or queen size bed going in the opposite direction. It adds so much interest to this room and hopefully will be here for a long time!

One of the things I love most about DIY projects is figuring out how to make something - it's like a giant puzzle. I saw photos of these slotted wall room dividers on Pinterest and just figured it out as I went. All in all, I had very few hiccups and it only took me a few hours to put together. I think I only cursed once?!? And so I call that an extreme DIY win...

Now that the sports wall, the climbing wall, and the built-in feature are complete, the last thing to do in here is some additional painting. I'm thinking of using a contrasting blue color for the closet doors and back side of the built-in, and perhaps trimming out the window with it as well. Then I need to switch out the light for a fan and this.room.is done 🙌

Details: I used two IKEA billy bookshelves, screwed together and secured to the wall. Then wrapped them in white oak plywood. I ripped down 2x4s into 1.5x1.5" square dowels (heavily sanded!) and used pocket holes on the back side of each to secure to the bookshelf and the 1x4 in the ceiling. It's very sturdy!

We are lucky enough to have 13' ceilings in our bedrooms, so a climbing wall seemed to make sense in my son's room as we worked on the remodel.

He is a super active kid with #ADHD, so his room redo has involved lots of activity spaces! Go back in my reels to see past projects and follow to see me finish this up!
