A few months ago, my girlfriend gave me her son’s play kitchen since he had outgrown it. My daughter loves banging the pots and pans and pushing the microwave buttons while saying “beep, beep, beep.” I know she’ll have more creative play with it as she grows (like actually pretending to cook instead of just shoving her stuffed animals in the oven and saying “uh oh!”).
While finding ideas for the 4th of July for my Link Love posts, I came across a headband that really inspired me (see it here). I wanted something for my daughter’s hair to match her cute plaid dress for the 4th and this seemed like an easy headband to recreate. It only took about a half hour to make.
Last week I got an old window from a girlfriend and quickly went to work hanging and decorating it. I have been dying to hang old windows in my house, and when she offered me some, I practically pounced on her!
My office space and dining area sit next to one another, separated by an open wall. I have big dreams of how I’d like to redecorate my office space, but for now I have to utilize what I’ve got and get creative. Currently, my printer and supplies sit on an open metal bookshelf, which can be seen in the dining and living area (somebody call the ugly police).
So while I’d eventually like to get a closed cabinet for all this stuff to hide it away, for now I decided to go the cheap route and hang a curtain between the two spaces to cover the bookshelf and add some separation. I was dying for some chevron fabric (it’s really the only pattern I can think about these days), but was having a hard time finding some at an affordable price. Finally, I stumbled upon Hodi & Poppi fabrics who had the perfect fabric at a reasonable price (they have adorable fabrics and fabulous customer service, by the way!).
A while back I decided to paint some embroidery hoops I had, fill them with fabric, and hang them up as part of the gallery wall I was creating. But lately I’ve been seeing so many amazing embroidery hoop art creations, that I decided my originals were a little boring. So this weekend I set out to spice up one of my hoops.
Here’s how it unfolded (and how you can do it yourself):
I put together some Easter baskets for the kids of our closest friends and wanted to give them a little handmade goodie. I stumbled upon a tutorial for chick beanbags at MarthaStewart.com, and loved how easy they looked and how adorable they were. They ended up being really simple and I was able to use scraps of fabric that I already had.
They would be perfect to decorate your house with for spring, or to give as gifts to kids. Check out the tutorial over at MarthaStewart.com.
