Yesterday was an exciting day in our house; we had our 18-week ultrasound and found out what we were having. Yes, it’s a baby; I’m talking about whether it’s a boy or girl, people.
Ever since I joined Pinterest, my eyes have been opened to so many new ideas and all the latest trends. I started realizing just how fun being pregnant can be with creative photos and parties (and how lame I was the first time around compared to all these other creative people).
I announced our pregnancy with this fun photo (an idea that I caught wind of via Pinterest, of course), and I wanted to do something out of the ordinary to share the big news about the gender with our friends and family. Did you know that gender reveal parties are all the rage? Well, at 18 weeks pregnant, I have no energy or desire to throw a party, so I came up with another idea.
You might remember that my girlfriend, Michelle, from Just Watching My Garden Grow shared her gender reveal idea on my blog a few months ago. I loved her balloon cards, but since my life revolves around the computer and internet, I decided to stick with what I know. That’s why I came up with this little video and sent it to our friends and family the day of the ultrasound:
Fun and actually pretty easy, if you believe it. I made all the slides with lettering in Photoshop, and imported those and the photos we took into iMovie. Then I played around with it a bit, added some music, and I was done.
Do it yourself
You can easily replicate this gender reveal video by making similar slides in a program like Photoshop, or by using a free service like Picnik.com.
Or, if you prefer to use the same “Want to know what we’re having?” “Are you ready to find out?,” etc. slides that I used, you can download them here, here, and here.
Then import them into whatever free movie program you have on your computer and create your own simple slideshow.
Youtube makes it really easy to share videos with friends and family, and you have the option to make your video private in case you don’t want the world to see it.
