I have totally neglected the blog this week. Truth be told, I am out-of-my-mind busy and I haven’t had a spare moment. In fact, I shouldn’t be taking the time to write this now… I should be finishing up some work, packing and making lunch.
But I’m feeling sorry for my little blog. So here I sit, writing.
Why am I so crazy busy? Because of this:
In the matter of a couple of months, my little family of 4 will be relocating to the square ol’ state of Colorado. I’m hopping on a plane today to go check it out, because I’ve never actually stepped foot in Colorado. Crazy, you say, for agreeing to move to a place I’ve never been? Yes, I am aware.
We have known for about a year that this was coming; my husband accepted a new job with a company based just outside of Denver, but because I was about to give birth to Lincoln, they gave us 12-18 months before we had to relocate. It’s been an amazing year that allowed my husband to work from home and be around for every milestone in Lincoln’s 1st year – something he missed out on with Mia.
But now the move date is drawing near and I am getting nervous – excited, but nervous. This weekend we will be checking out areas and trying to figure out where to settle down. There will be more on this topic to come, I’m sure. For now, I am trying not to think about it too much so that I don’t have a panic attack. At this point, I am still able to say, “It’s a couple of months away.”
My husband left earlier this week to work in the office, and I am meeting him there tonight; so things have been ridiculously crazy around here as I take care of two kids alone and try to cram in my usual amount of work before I leave for the weekend.
Yesterday only added to the madness… I thought I would take a little break and take the kids to the park for a picnic lunch. “I’m such a good mom!” I thought. Lunch was lovely; both the kids did a pretty good job eating and neither threw a fit (wildly amazing). Mia ran off to play while Lincoln and I sat on a blanket in the shade. I even reclined a little and started to relax and enjoy the breeze.
Then Mia came over to me to announce that she needed new panties… I will spare you the details. Let’s just say that 5 minutes later we were back in the car and I was wiping up poop from everywhere. My son was wandering around on the floor of the backseat in an extremely hot car, and my daughter was baring it all in the back while cars zoomed past (this park didn’t have a parking lot, so we parked curbside on a very busy street – hooray!) – all the while screaming her head off because we had to leave so I could hose her down in the tub. Did I mention I only had 4 wipes with me? Thank God for hand sanitizer. My happy-mom demeanor and my patience were left in the trash can with the clean-up supplies.
So, that was awesome.
Now in the attempt to update the blog, I’ve shared a story that is probably way too much information.
*Sigh*
This is why I pre-plan my posts.
Have a happy weekend everyone. And don’t forget to carry extra panties and wipes wherever your travels take you.
