- I was born in Michigan, and moved to CA when I was six. My mom grew up on a farm – cows and fields and the whole deal. Meals like goulash, polish sausage, and sauerkraut were staples in my house growing up, and I never found that to be weird. I had never heard of avocados until I moved to California.
- I taught myself how to sew when I was a pre-teen. The first thing I ever made was a doll filled with beans. That was because I was super obsessed with “American Girl” dolls and one of them (Addie, I think?) had a bean doll as a child because she couldn’t afford a real doll. I also used to carry my lunch around in a paint can for a while because that’s what Addie did…. I was weird.
- When I was a baby, I put my hands up on a stovetop to stand up and received third degree burns. They are still scarred, but it’s subtle and most people don’t even notice.
- I thought I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was a kid. I often drew sketches of clothing and pretended people would call me with “orders.” I went to fashion school after high school and worked in the industry for a couple of years before deciding I was wrong about my dream – turns out I am much happier doing what I do now. So much for that college degree.
- I am 6 feet tall; my husband is 5’6” (“on a good day,” as he would say). The height difference was definitely weird in the beginning and I was self-conscious at first, but now I hardly remember that we are so unbalanced… unless I look in a mirror while standing next to him – or behind him. Also, I don’t really own or wear heels anymore…
Now that we’re better acquainted, what don’t I know about you?
