Every once in a while, I become obsessed with a particular style and feel like all would be right with the world if I could change my wardrobe to reflect it. What do you want from me? I am woman. I like clothes.
For example, while in the throngs of watching “Friday Night Lights,” I decided that I needed to wear cowboy boots and dresses every day à la Tami Taylor. I tried for a while, but cute Texan in California is kind of hard to pull off. And my feet sweat a lot in those boots on 90 degree days…
Recently, I can’t get enough of Scarlett O’Connor’s (played by Clare Bowen) style on “Nashville.” She’s got this whole feminine vintage meets rugged thing happening, and I am obsessed.
I suddenly want to fill my closet with lace dresses, brown belts, boots and vintage lingerie… is that too much to ask? The problem is, while doing research I have discovered that pretty much everything she wears on the show is from Free People, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, or Shopbop… so, there goes that pipe dream.
Sidenote to ABC: Scarlett could never afford those clothes on a struggling Nashville artist’s budget. Where’s the authenticity? Then again, I suppose not many people are as crazy as myself and researching where her wardrobe actually comes from…
Anyway, I still think I can make this happen by slowing adding some pieces to my wardrobe… I’ll be looking for lace items, full midi skirts and dresses, rugged boots, long, slouchy cardigans, and vintage slips, separates, and florals. I’m even thinking of making a few of my own skirts since they are pretty much the easiest thing you can make. And bonus, midi skirts in for for summer 2013. I am soooo trendy.
I loosely drew inspiration from Scarlett for our family photo session, though my look wasn’t quite as rugged. I did love my dress with a vintage floral print that I bought on asos.com.
Do you ever become obsessed with a particular style? Or am I alone in my madness?
