I haven’t done a What I Wore Wednesday post in a few weeks… mostly because I’m too tired to get outside and photograph myself when the stars align and both kids are simultaneously napping. By that time, I’m usually covered in spit-up and/or breast milk anyway. TMI? Sorry.
Anywho, I finally got around to taking some photos of one of my favorite outfits as of late. Let’s start with my inspiration; the idea came from this photo that I found on Pinterest a few months ago:
I immediately knew that I wanted an oversized chiffon top in a bright color to emulate it. I was thrilled to find this one at Forever21 for crazy cheap ($13.50). I bought it in a large so that it hung loosely on me and was a little less form-fitting. I also rolled up the sleeves and actually tacked them with needle and thread so that they would stay put (chiffon doesn’t stay rolled very well).
When it came to shorts, I opted for some a little longer than my inspiration pic. I am a mother of two, after all. The less of my hoo-ha that shows, the better… These shorts were also a Forever 21 find, and they came with the chevron belt for only $20.90. I love that the belt has a bit of a tribal feel.
My sandals were another great find; they were on clearance at Target for $13. The feathers and leather tassles give ’em a little extra somethin’ somethin’.
The first time I wore this outfit was to church, and I was feeling like my fashionable self again, post-baby. That is, until I fed my son halfway through the service and got a huge breast milk stain on one side of it. So I had to walk to the car with my arm strategically placed in front of the stain; it may have looked like it was asleep, but at least it covered the stain. It was a total WIN in my book.
