With summer on the way, DIY projects seem like a great way to fill the long, relaxing days (who am I kidding, when was the last time one of my days was relaxing?).
I have a growing list of things I want to make for the house… perhaps I will get to at least one of them in the coming months. Here’s a couple of things on my summer DIY list:
Patchwork Bolster Pillow Tutorial
I am in love with this patchwork bolster pillow from Noodlehead! She knocked it off from an Anthropologie pillow, so clearly we have excellent similar taste. She gives a great tutorial on how to do it; it caught me off guard because I thought it looked difficult until I read her how-to. SO easy.
Last Name Initial Wreath Tutorial
I don’t know why I’ve never thought of this (putting my initial on a wreath, that is). What a great way to personalize your front door! This is so simple and cheap to make; faux flowers, twig wreath form, wooden initial, paint. I can’t wait to spruce up my door with something summer-y. (Found on LizMarieBlog.com)
Paint Chip Paper Heart Garland
Talk about a cheap DIY. Those paint chips are free! I wonder if they’ll notice at Home Depot when I leave with 20 of them in my hands? This would be adorable for a little girl’s room, or for Valentine’s Day. Of course, you can cut any shape out of them, it doesn’t have to be a heart. (Found on OhCrafts.net)
Drawer Front Hangers
These drawer front hangers from Design Sponge are so stylish. You could easily make them out of old drawer fronts, or just pieces of leftover wood. I love that the knobs are mismatched; you can always find them on clearance at Anthropologie and Cost Plus World Market, and it’s so much easier if you aren’t trying to find several of the same. I definitely want a wall display of these!
Using IKEA Shelf as Storage Bench
I desperately need somewhere to stash our shoes and place my purse by the back door. I think this IKEA hack may have just won. I’m coming for you, Lack bookshelf!! (Found on Aparmenttherapy.com)
