Last week I got an old window from a girlfriend and quickly went to work hanging and decorating it. I have been dying to hang old windows in my house, and when she offered me some, I practically pounced on her!

Weekend Project: Chevron Curtain
My office space and dining area sit next to one another, separated by an open wall. I have big dreams of how I’d like to redecorate my office space, but for now I have to utilize what I’ve got and get creative. Currently, my printer and supplies sit on an open metal bookshelf, which can be seen in the dining and living area (somebody call the ugly police).
So while I’d eventually like to get a closed cabinet for all this stuff to hide it away, for now I decided to go the cheap route and hang a curtain between the two spaces to cover the bookshelf and add some separation. I was dying for some chevron fabric (it’s really the only pattern I can think about these days), but was having a hard time finding some at an affordable price. Finally, I stumbled upon Hodi & Poppi fabrics who had the perfect fabric at a reasonable price (they have adorable fabrics and fabulous customer service, by the way!).
Mom swimwear: Go retro (at any price point)
Ah, swimwear season.
Friday Link Love: Summer activities for you and the kids
I am a pretty big fan of summertime, and now that I have a child, I am even more excited to introduce her to fun summer activities and create some memories. For those of you with kids in school, it’s not a shocker to anyone to admit that they can drive you a little nuts when they’re home 24/7 (no judgments here).
So this post goes out to all the moms… Here’s a roundup of some fun activities to keep you and the kiddos occupied and happy this summer!
Produce less waste: Use mesh produce bags
A while back, I was completely fascinated with a video I saw about the Johnson family in California who produce no waste. That’s right, NO WASTE.
Think about that for a minute. That means that no packaged or processed foods are purchased by the family. All meat and cheese gets put into glass jars at the grocery store. All produce goes into mesh bags. There are no paper towels, no cotton balls, no kleenex, and, of course… no toilet paper.

Taco seasoning recipe
I am super excited about this DIY taco seasoning recipe on Smashed Peas and Carrots.
We have tacos almost every week because it’s cheap, easy, and yummy. There have been quite a few times when I’ve opened my cupboard on taco night only to realize I didn’t have any taco seasoning. For some reason, it never crossed my mind that I could make my own.
The recipe is super simple and (score) I have all the ingredients in my cupboard (I’ll bet you do too!). I haven’t tried it yet, but I can’t wait to give it a go.
Father’s Day Recap/Gifts
Father’s Day was fun and relaxing for us. We started the morning by giving the hubs his Father’s Day gift, headed to church, then returned home for naptime (for the baby, not for us, unfortunately). I forgot I had to make cupcakes, so it was a last-minute scramble to the grocery store and back home to bake. After lunch, we headed to my mother and father-in-law’s for a BBQ, and we hung out there for the rest of the day. My husband caught a nap, we watched the Dodger game, ate some yummy BBQ, and did basically nothing. All in all, I think it was exactly what my husband wanted.
Friday Link Love: 4th of July
Here comes the 4th! I love the 4th of July; it’s usually full of good food, good friends, and good fireworks. Plus (and call me sentimental, if you will), I love the unity that patriotism brings, and knowing that people all over the country are celebrating for the same reason.
Anywhoo, if you’re throwing a 4th of July party or are just looking for ways to amp up the patriotism in your household, here’s a round-up of some great decorations, printables, and ideas!
