I’d like to take credit for this look, but I totally ripped it off from the Gap. It’s true and I make no apologies. The less I have to think these days, the better – for everyone involved. So when I saw this look on the Gap’s website, I ordered the dress during a 40%…
Apparently this questionnaire has been going around the web with several bloggers, and I’ve been tagged by my lovely friend Candy to share my take on my writing process. Candy is a fellow blogger whose writing style I love and totally relate to, and I so enjoyed reading how her writing process works.
I personally love reading about how other writers think, feel and go about their writing. It helps me feel a little less crazy and a little more like a welcomed member of the writing community. If you’re a writer in any sense (whether you blog, write poetry or even just journal for the heck of it), maybe you’ll find something you can relate to, too – and hopefully you’ll feel a little less crazy.
It’s no secret that I am about as white as they come. I was raised on Midwestern food – meat and potatoes, and the only Mexican food my mom ever cooked/cooks is definitely “white” (sorry mom, but it’s true). As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned how to make enchiladas, rice, beans, tacos, fajitas, empanadas and…
Here we go again! My favorite options for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are homemade gifts. Not only because it saves money, but it also (usually) makes for a more meaningful and heartfelt gift (unless you have a “nailed it” internet meme moment).
I’ve got another fashion obsession… they come and go, in case you haven’t noticed. My most recent have included kimonos, maxi skirts, and menswear looks. But with the recent start of spring, I am drooling over pastel looks.

Last Friday, I ushered in my 30th birthday with a little cocktail/dinner party at our house. My husband took care of most of the details, including the invites, the food and the drinks. I simply offered to handle the decor and find myself a cocktail dress (a task in and of itself). Not only was…
I’ve been in a planning frenzy these last couple of weeks trying to figure out what in the world I am going to do in the nursery. For some reason, I’ve been very noncommittal and totally overthinking the whole thing. But it’s time to get down to business because I’ve got a little over 2 months before my due date (*insert scary, panic face here*).
When it comes to the nursery, I don’t exactly have a blank slate to start with, which makes it even more difficult. The walls are painted a light yellow (not the prettiest yellow, either) and because we rent, we aren’t allowed to paint. So after much searching for appropriate color schemes that would play down the yellow and still scream “boy,” I decided on a yellow/teal/mint/grey palette.
In the last couple of months, I have had no desire to wear anything form fitting. It’s all elastic waists over here, my friends. So when I started seeing kimonos popping up at different stores, I got pretty excited. Not only would it suit my needs for loose clothing, but anytime I can find regular,…
Every Easter I love giving small gifts to family and friends. In the past, I’ve given away little Easter baskets, DIY beanbag chicks and bunny tails (marshmallows), and this year I was inspired by all the cute bunny treat bags and gifts that I’ve come across. Who knew you could make an apple look like a bunny?
