The summer will soon be coming to a close { insert unified “boo” here }, and to make the most of it I gathered up some of my favorite summer ideas to squeeze into the final weeks. Try out some of these with your kiddos and end the summer on a high note.
Outdoor bottle bowling
Gather some plastic soda bottles, fill with water and food coloring, and bowl away. For nighttime bowling, drop a different colored glow stick into each bottle! Idea and photo from Parents.com
Water sponge balls
Use this simple tutorial to create water sponge balls and let the kids have a “ball” (bad pun intended) soaking one another without any pain! Idea and photo from OneCharmingParty.com
Balloon ping pong
If you’re trying to escape the heat and need to find a game for the kids to play indoors, how about this super simple balloon ping pong? You can probably make it with items you already own, and your kids won’t break anything while playing (one can only hope).

Homemade ice pops
Don’t forget the popsicles! Martha Stewart has several easy-to-make recipes for hot summer days. If you don’t have popsicle molds, no problem; just use old yogurt containers or wax cups. Idea and photo from MarthaStewart.com
