Have you heard? Jason Wu is releasing a line for Target available for purchase on February 5th! I recently mentioned how much I have loved Jason Wu ever since he designed Michelle Obama’s stunning white dress for the Inaugural Ball back in 2009, and I loved seeing designers wearing him at this past Sunday’s Golden Globe awards. Now his feminine, modern style will be hitting Target stores at extremely affordable prices.
I just finished watching the three-hour long celebration of Hollywood’s best, the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. I love seeing my favorite actors and actresses mingle and interact in their element, and living outside of the roles we watch them play throughout the year. And, of course, I love the fashion.
Here’s my list of best dressed, worst dressed, and all the rest…
Fashion blogs focused on purchasing more vintage and thrifted clothing seem to be popping up everywhere these days. It’s definitely inspired me keep my eyes open at thrift stores and try to find some diamonds in the rough at a fraction of the cost of regular clothing stores. Although it can be a lot of work, it’s also extremely satisfying to walk away with something great at a discounted price.
Of course, shopping recycled clothing is a great way to save money, but did you know it’s also a huge help to the environment? I must admit, although I know the environmental benefits of recycling, I hadn’t really thought about it in terms of clothing until I read this post on my friend Shayna’s blog, Second Hand Challenge.
Lucky Magazine recently put out their list of the top trends from 2011, and the must-haves for 2012. Quite frankly, I’m a little surprised by the 2012 list, but we’ll get to that in a minute. Let’s start with some of the top trends of 2011:
As I approach the 18-week mark, I am still getting used to dressing my body for a growing belly. The trick is not wearing something ultra-baggy so you can’t tell I’m pregnant (because then you have the “did she just eat a really big lunch?” problem), but also finding tops that are long enough to fit over the belly and pants that are comfortable at the waistline.
Here’s what I wore today. Scroll down for some tips on dressing in the 2nd trimester!
It could be because it’s been so cold out lately, or maybe it’s because I’m almost 4 months pregnant, but the only thing I want to wear these days are sweatpants…
Unfortunately I own mostly jeans, and due to the expanding belly, I have to wear them with a bellaband, unbuttoned and (lately) unzipped. It’s not the most comfortable thing to wear; especially when you spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer. My poor baby is probably begging for some less restricted space.
Last week I had the pleasure of attending a holiday blogger mixer with my buddy Michelle at the fairly new DownEast Basics store at the Irvine Spectrum. Before the event, I had never even heard of DownEast Basics. Although they sell nationally on their website, www.downeastbasics.com, they only have one other store in California (located up north in Sacramento), so I guess that’s why I wasn’t privy to them.
I love, love, love sweater dresses in the fall and winter. They are so easy to throw on, look great with boots and tights, and are comfy enough to make me feel like I’m wearing a blanket (what could be better for a mom?).
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about my love for affordable, trendy leatherette jackets. Then a few days after that, I picked up this black leatherette jacket at Target on sale for $35 – I’m pretty sure it was meant to be, since I found only one medium shoved in the very back of the rack:
This fall I’m head over heels for tribal and Native American inspired looks. The trend is more effortless than ever, showing up in subtle ways. Take, for example, this open cardigan from American Eagle:
