One of my New Year’s resolutions was to start sprucing up my kitchen, and within the first week of the new year, I already have a couple of projects done. Go me!

This DIY wooden rack was my first order of business; it’s something I’ve been wanting to make for quite a long time to hang my aprons on. It was inspired by something I saw at an indie craft fair a while back, and I just kinda winged it – but it turned out pretty good anyway!

I had already picked up the three large nails I used as hangers at the Pasadena flee market a couple of years ago, not knowing what I would use them for. Each is stamped with a different number of significance in our lives (my daughter’s birthday, the year we married, and the day we married).

My husband and I plan on spending this weekend building this coffee table with plans from the amazing Ana White. If you’ve ever been interested in building your own furniture, Ana has tons of plans and instructions on her website. 

I want our table to look pretty similar to the one above, except I think we will be using regular rubber casters because steel ones are so expensive! I did extensive research online, and couldn’t find any below $12 per piece. $12 x 4 wheels plus shipping just isn’t in our budget… So instead, I will probably be picking up some 5″ casters from Harbor Freight Tools for only $6.99 a piece.
