Graham’s birth story

June 25, 2014 | Leave a Comment

What a whirlwind of a week. I feel so out of sorts!

Last Monday, June 16, I gave birth to our third child, Graham. It felt different than the previous two and I’m not entirely sure why. Perhaps because I’m older and wiser now (haha) or maybe because I knew it was going to be my last.

Belly shots: one last time.

June 2, 2014 | Leave a Comment

On Friday, I had a good 3 to 4 hours of contractions. They were actually quite uncomfortable and at times were only 2 minutes apart. But instead of calling my husband at work and telling him, “It’s time!,” I called him and told him to come home and help me with the kids because I couldn’t do much but sit on the couch and deal with my belly.

WIWW: 33 weeks and oxfords

May 7, 2014 | Leave a Comment

I’d like to take credit for this look, but I totally ripped it off from the Gap. It’s true and I make no apologies. The less I have to think these days, the better – for everyone involved. So when I saw this look on the Gap’s website, I ordered the dress during a 40%…

WIWW: A DIY floral skirt and a baby shower

March 27, 2014 | Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I talked about how I started making some of my own maternity clothes because I just wasn’t finding cute ones in the store. I got excited when I saw this cute knee-length, over-the-bump skirt on Cotton and Curls and decided to give it a go. I’m not gonna lie, this skirt…

WIWW: DIY maternity mixed print top

March 18, 2014 | Leave a Comment

After I found the tutorial for the DIY maxi skirt that I featured last week, I started hunting for more DIY maternity clothing tutorials and got nerdily excited to start making some of my own clothes. I found this top on DIYMaternity.com and loved the mix of solid color and floral print. { source: diymaternity.com }…

Interpreting trends: Menswear for maternity

January 22, 2014 | Leave a Comment

{ source } Disclaimer: In this post, I have featured menswear looks styled with maternity clothing. If you are not pregnant, I hate you (ok, not really, I love you but I’m just a bit bitter about your normal-sized body), but you can still take some inspiration from this post and the looks I put…

Lincoln’s birth story

June 11, 2012 | Leave a Comment

I am so grateful and happy to announce that Lincoln Raymond-David Taylor finally made his arrival Wednesday, June 6th at 2:25 p.m. He was a healthy 8 lbs. 4.5 oz.

Sorry things have been so quiet around here lately, but we have been enjoying our new little boy and getting acclimated to life with two kids (which is quite a change!).

My last pregnant day

I can hardly believe it, but today will be my last full day pregnant (for this baby, anyways). Tomorrow morning we are heading to the hospital to be induced, just shy of 41 weeks. Since I had my first child early at 38 weeks, I feel like I’ve been overdue for weeks now!

It’s interesting what you have time to contemplate when you know the day that you will be having your baby. When it happens on its own, you don’t give much thought to things beforehand, since you never really know or expect when it’s going to happen. But this time around, I’ve been running (more like waddling) all over the house making sure everything is ready, taking time to freak out about adding another child into the mix, contemplating just how much sleep I will soon be losing out on, and, perhaps on a more positive note, spending a lot of quality time with the Mr. and my little girl before we go from a family of 3 to a family of 4.

WIWW: 38 weeks & a summer hat

Here I am at a glorious 38 weeks… I’m going crazy over here – come out baby, come out!!

Anyway, this week I threw on my new hat from Target while hanging out in the warm SoCal sun. It’s the first hat I’ve owned that doesn’t accentuate my weird cone head. I need a lot of volume on the top to balance things out with my round cheeks, and this hat gives me just that. It’s nice to finally have a hat to wear in public without feeling like I look weird!

WIWW: 36 weeks & cowboy boots

May 9, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Another week has passed, and I’m almost officially full-term. I can’t wait to get this baby out! The weight of my tum-tum is really tiring me out (or is it chasing after a 2 1/2 year old that’s doing that?). Well I managed to get some pictures taken today of my little “basketball” as several people have called it. I know, it looks a little fake; but I swear, there’s a baby in there!

Today I was feeling a little bit country and threw on some cowboy boots with my dress to brave the 80-degree weather at the park. As I write this, I’m a bit sweaty after both endeavors. So please excuse the barely-any-makeup look.

I get it. It's a little weird. But the girls I've I get it. It's a little weird.
But the girls I've seen do it best, look adorable.

I think it looks best with an oversized tee or sweatshirt, tennies or slides, and a small crossbody bag.

You can't argue with comfort.

For the record, these are women's sleep shorts that I've had a couple of years from Old Navy. If you buy actual men's boxers, you might consider sewing up the pee pocket 😜

Don't spend a lot on this trend; these shorts are made from the thinnest of fabric and shouldn't cost much. Don't be fooled by a retailer that wants you to spend just because it's trendy.

But if you see some cute boxers and want to give it a go - then do! Bonus - if/when the trend ends, you'll have pajamas on the ready 👏

It's solid weekend wear, but I'm not going out to dinner in it...

Another project down in my son's room! I knew I w Another project down in my son's room!

I knew I wanted some sort of built-in feature in this bedroom, but it was hard to figure out what, because we turned it into an active space where he could run and play and needed a lot of room.

So I settled on a built-in bookcase with the slatted design feature, which I'm in love with!

The best part about it is that if he ever decides to upgrade his bed, the space will also accommodate a full or queen size bed going in the opposite direction. It adds so much interest to this room and hopefully will be here for a long time!

One of the things I love most about DIY projects is figuring out how to make something - it's like a giant puzzle. I saw photos of these slotted wall room dividers on Pinterest and just figured it out as I went. All in all, I had very few hiccups and it only took me a few hours to put together. I think I only cursed once?!? And so I call that an extreme DIY win...

Now that the sports wall, the climbing wall, and the built-in feature are complete, the last thing to do in here is some additional painting. I'm thinking of using a contrasting blue color for the closet doors and back side of the built-in, and perhaps trimming out the window with it as well. Then I need to switch out the light for a fan and this.room.is done 🙌

Details: I used two IKEA billy bookshelves, screwed together and secured to the wall. Then wrapped them in white oak plywood. I ripped down 2x4s into 1.5x1.5" square dowels (heavily sanded!) and used pocket holes on the back side of each to secure to the bookshelf and the 1x4 in the ceiling. It's very sturdy!

We are lucky enough to have 13' ceilings in our bedrooms, so a climbing wall seemed to make sense in my son's room as we worked on the remodel.

He is a super active kid with #ADHD, so his room redo has involved lots of activity spaces! Go back in my reels to see past projects and follow to see me finish this up!
