Months ago, I pinned the plans for a DIY bunk bed from Ana White, knowing there might be a day when I would need them. I loved the fact that it was open underneath, allowing room for another bed or play area, and the stairs were a unique feature that I hadn’t seen before. As…
I’ve been in a planning frenzy these last couple of weeks trying to figure out what in the world I am going to do in the nursery. For some reason, I’ve been very noncommittal and totally overthinking the whole thing. But it’s time to get down to business because I’ve got a little over 2 months before my due date (*insert scary, panic face here*).
When it comes to the nursery, I don’t exactly have a blank slate to start with, which makes it even more difficult. The walls are painted a light yellow (not the prettiest yellow, either) and because we rent, we aren’t allowed to paint. So after much searching for appropriate color schemes that would play down the yellow and still scream “boy,” I decided on a yellow/teal/mint/grey palette.
What is with the nightmares that preschoolers get? I can’t even begin to tell you about the things my poor 4-year-old daughter has dreamt about. Things that I don’t think she has ever seen on TV or read in a book. Scary things that are somehow created in her imagination in the middle of the night.
If you’ve read my blog, you know the frustrations I’ve dealt with when it comes to getting my 3 1/2 year old to eat. And if you’re a mom who’s ever had a 3 1/2 year old, I’m willing to bet you’ve dealt with the same issue.
I guess it’s a mason jar kind of week since I just talked about making pumpkins and other Halloween decor from mason jar lids on Wednesday. So let’s just continue on with the theme and discuss painted mason jar pumpkins – the perfect craft to do with your child this Halloween/fall. Since Mia loves crafts…
I decided a couple of months ago that it was time to give Mia some chores around the house. After putting it out there on Facebook, I realized that majority of my readers already had their young kids doing chores and I was way behind! I knew we needed to start teaching her some responsibility (and of course, I could use some help around the house, too), and I was hoping that chores would help her gain confidence in her abilities and even help out with some behavioral issues.

Barbie.
Just the word evokes some serious nostalgia. I was OBSESSED with Barbies when I was a child. I remember transforming my bedroom into elaborate Barbie cities, with houses spanning from bed to closet; utilizing boxes, chopsticks, paper cups, whatever I could to create the perfect DIY dream house for my Barbie dolls.
Lately my daughter has been REALLY into coloring. It took forever for her to finally show some interest in it, but we are finally there. Being a graphic designer and a super crafty and artistic kid myself, I am loving her new creative side (especially because it keeps her still and occupied for more than 5 minutes).
It’s been forever since I’ve had time to get something new up in my Etsy shop. I’ve been in the process of moving for the last couple of months and just haven’t had the time.
But I FINALLY got something in there that I’ve wanted to make forever.
I must admit, I’m getting excited for the 4th of July. Every year we go to a friend’s house and relax while the kids play in the water, eat popsicles, and have fun. We always have a huge spread of food – including a yummy BBQ – followed by a backyard fireworks show for the kids { see last year }.
The entire day evokes the unmistakable feeling of summer; from the smell of sunscreen and charcoal to the sound of the children laughing to the soul-feeding time with friends.
