As Christmas draws near, I’ve got gifts for teachers on the brain. If you’ve read this post from last June, you already know that I am notorious for forgetting to pre-plan teacher gifts and end up scrambling the night before. I promised myself that this year I would get on the ball, so I am starting now! I’ve got one week of school left before my daughter is out for Christmas, so I am really ahead of the game compared to last year.
Now that I live far from friends and family (read about our move here), it’s the first time that I’ve had to send gifts in the mail. I decided to mail some desserts and goodies to friends and family as part of their gift (because who doesn’t love to get homemade food in the mail…
I think I can officially say that winter has hit Colorado. After a gorgeous 66-degree day on Monday, the temperature has dropped to 14 degrees today and we’ve got a good 5-6″ of snow on the ground. I took these photos yesterday just as the wind started to pick up and the temperature started to…
Things have been ridiculously busy for us over the last week or so. My mother and father-in-law were here for a full week for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I was busy prepping for their stay and then enjoying our time with them. We managed to squeeze a WHOLE lot into one little week, including a trip to the Denver Zoo, a Christmas Lighting at Pearl Street in Boulder, an overnight getaway for myself and the Mr. in Vail, CO to celebrate 7 happy years of marriage, Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping. Phew. I’m still exhausted.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and I am finding myself getting final preparations in order; making my grocery list, picking out my recipes, planning decor… it’s all part of the holiday fun!
Here’s a roundup of some of the things that I’m including in my Thanksgiving this year. If it’s sneaking up on you and you’re feeling unprepared, throw some of these ideas into play and you’ll be all set. See, you didn’t really need to stress, did you?
I’m a strong believer that everyone should have a little black dress that they can fall back on in their closet at all times. I’ve had this dress for probably 4 1/2 years. Even I am surprised that it’s been that long, but I remember because I bought it early in my pregnancy with my…
If you’ve read my blog, you know the frustrations I’ve dealt with when it comes to getting my 3 1/2 year old to eat. And if you’re a mom who’s ever had a 3 1/2 year old, I’m willing to bet you’ve dealt with the same issue.
It’s already time to start thinking about Christmas cards… didn’t we just do this? Because I swear I just sent mine out, like, two months ago. Somehow 2013 has flown by; but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great year! Every year when I send out my Christmas card, I like to include a little overview of the past year or reveal some exciting news for the coming year. That’s where the inspiration comes from for most of the Christmas cards that I create in my Etsy shop.
I have a problem. When I get obsessed with something, I can’t get it out of my head… and that’s kind of what’s happening with me and Nordic sweater leggings right now. Snowflakes, reindeer, Nordic, fair isle; call it what you will. I am obsessed.
I decided a while back that I wanted to do a travel theme in our guest bedroom/basement after I had seen lots of cute ideas on Pinterest. Since we have big empty walls in the basement, I had my heart set on covering the wall above our couch/bed with a large vintage hanging map. I figured it would be fun if visitors could also sign their name on it as proof of their visit. Many years from now, it will be nice to see just how many friends and family members we’ve had come and stay with us.
I looked up several tutorials on creating a DIY hanging map before combining a few of them to make my own. It turned out to be pretty easy and really affordable.
