I’ve been mentioning lately that my family is on the road to clean eating. Thanks to the internet and some amazing bloggers like Andrea from Howe We Live, my eyes have been opened to the dangers of eating highly processed foods with artificial ingredients and the benefits of those that are all natural. After lots…
First let me say that I would normally post a What I Wore article on a Wednesday, but this week I’ve been busy hosting some friends of ours who are visiting from California. In the interest of spending time with them and enjoying life and great friends, I haven’t had the time to devote to…
A lot of times when I take pictures to post here for What I Wore Wednesday, it’s on a day that I have somewhere to go. I look better on those days and feel a little more picture-worthy. Although I don’t wear a lot of sweats and do generally try to dress well each day…
I can hardly believe it, but Graham is already 5 weeks old. Anyone who’s had a child knows how quickly time flies when all you want it to do is stand still (and then there are the days when you are in the midst of potty training or sleep training and you wish that the days and weeks would scoot on by a little quicker…).
If you were around earlier this year, you may remember when I started selling the “Capture the Little Moments” scrapbook & journal for 2014. I designed it as an easy way to keep up with documenting life throughout the year. I’ve been using it throughout 2014 and guess what? It’s working! I am actually keeping up with printing photos and journaling our goings-ons during each month.
So this is obviously pertinent to my life right now since I am, in fact, in the throes of postpartum – but that’s not the only reason I wanted to talk about it. Ever since having my first child, I have firmly believed that postpartum is not talked about enough when it comes to first-time mothers.
I had NO IDEA what I was in for 4 1/2 years ago. In fact, I hadn’t even thought about it. When you are prepping for your first baby, you are busy decorating the nursery and buying cute little clothes, and your mind is consumed with how you are going to make it through labor. You go to classes to learn what to expect during this monumental occasion and you learn coping mechanisms for the pain and you get yourself all ready to bring this little baby into the world. But no one ever tells you that there is a whole mess of crap you have to deal with afterward.
You know what I hate? Trying to figure out what to wear postpartum. I don’t fit into any of my old pants or shorts, but maternity bottoms don’t really fit either. Tight-fitting shirts are a no-go since I have a little bit of a flabby postpartum tummy, so it’s loosey-goosey for the next few weeks.…
You guys, I finally finished up Graham’s nursery and got around to taking pictures of it. Luckily I finished before he graduated college (ok, he’s only 3 weeks old, so I’m sort of exaggerating). It was a really long process, and especially difficult because I was simultaneously working on a shared bedroom for our older two kids and I was all prego and tired. But praise Jesus, I finished (though there are always little things popping up that cause me to think, “Hey, I should do that in the nursery!”). Sometimes Pinterest is more of a hindrance than a help…
This year for Father’s Day, I wanted to give the Mr. something that would help him know just how loved he is, and something that would remind him of his last day as a Father of two (we were induced with Graham the day after Father’s Day). So when I decided to do one of…
