I love this recent post from Holly over at decor8blog.com that highlights home décor trends in Europe and America. Holly is an American journalist and interior design consultant who currently lives in Germany, so she’s pretty much got the skinny on what’s happening in homes around the world.
In her post, she highlights three of my FAVORITE home trends right now, and I loved looking at the pretty pictures and reading her thoughts on the trends. Here they are:
Industrial Lighting
Apparently industrial lights are super popular in Europe. Good to know I’m on trend, because I have been ooo-ing and awww-ing over these industrial lights from West Elm ($20-$150, depending on size) for a while. I want to hang a pendant over my kitchen table and am looking for a fun modern/country mix, so these totally fit the bill.
Just recently I saw that they had something similar at Ikea ($20-30, depending on the size), and marked it on my “must-get” list (as soon as I can convince my husband that it’s worth replacing the lighting fixture in our rental even though we’ll have to change it back one day… I’ll get there, oh yes, I’ll get there).
Mixing Chairs
Hooray for mismatched chairs! I’ve been working on putting together a collection of mismatched chairs for our dining table for a while now (it involves many, many trips to garage sales and thrift stores, and many, many hours of sanding and painting). Right now my eyes are peeled for an old bench to throw in.
Tolix Chairs
I want! Two armed tolix chairs at the ends of my dining table would be so perfect. Apparently they are all over Germany and London for under $100; I think I’m in the wrong country, considering they are closer to $250 in America (if you look at Pottery Barn, that is). Still keeping my eyes peeled for a better deal…
Here are some of the other trends that Holly highlights in her post:
- Rustic furniture
- Porcelain huricanes
- Glass display bell jars
- Reclaimed wood
- Liberty florals
