It’s finally over; Kate’s dress has been revealed, she and William have sealed the deal, and we can all stop talking about the royal wedding (let’s hope).
As tired as I was of hearing about the wedding, it was a pretty magical moment; watching Kate walk down the aisle to meet her prince. I was so impressed with her simplistic dress designed by Sarah Burton, creative director for Alexander McQueen. While Burton usually designs more elaborate and structured gowns, this dress was made to perfectly suit Kate’s style. It was classic yet youthful, while still maintaining a hint of modesty, from the 8-foot train to the lace long sleeves. In short, it was perfectly suited for a modern princess.
I also loved how reminiscent Kate’s wedding gown was of Grace Kelly’s gown when she married the Prince of Monaco in 1956. When she looks back on these photos, her dress will be timeless (unlike Princess Diana’s enormous poof shoulders…). Kudos on your choice, Kate!
In case you missed it, here are some photos of Princess Kate in her royal wedding dress:
windows were impeccably shiny? Impressive…
