Black and White Woodland Nursery

May 23, 2017 | Leave a Comment

When we moved into our house 2 years ago, it was a great time to revamp my son’s nursery. I never really liked it to begin with, and it’s all because the walls were a terrible shade of yellow that we weren’t allowed to paint because we were renters. I tried to roll with it,…

Fixer Upper Style: Industrial pipe shelving and shiplap

April 26, 2017 | Leave a Comment

The title of this post basically encompasses everything I am passionate about when it comes to home decor. Give me shiplap and give it to me on every wall. That’s how to make me a happy lady. So when we moved into our home 2 years ago and the walls were all textured, blank and…

Simplify: Toy Organization Tips

February 15, 2017 | 3 Comments

I talked about my desire to simplify in 2017 when I blogged about my daughter’s birthday party and how I threw all the rules of today’s party-throwing society out the window. It was the opposite of Pinteresty and it was entirely put together with Target goods and Papa Murphy’s pizza. It was glorious. That’s just…

Modern Farmhouse Bathroom

September 23, 2016 | Leave a Comment

When we first moved into our Colorado home last year, it had been completely redone on the inside and sold as a flip. Obviously this had its perks, since we didn’t have to put a ton of money into fixing anything right off the bat. It was also a blank slate for me to decorate,…

Neutral Fall Farmhouse Decor

September 6, 2016 | Leave a Comment

I am really not a fan of Halloween decor. I mean, every October I really try to get in the mood, and I occasionally decorate from year to year; but it’s just really not my thing and I end up taking it down as quickly as I put it up. It’s hard for black and…

Backyard Patio Makeover

July 22, 2016 | 1 Comment

At the beginning of the summer, I sought out to overhaul our patio a bit and make it more of a livable space. Over the years, the Mr. and I have had lots of talks about extending our living area by creating outdoor spaces to hang out. We love the idea of a smaller house…

Front Door Fix: Fresh Paint

May 31, 2016 | 1 Comment

You may have heard me complain a time or two about the color of our house. The outside is painted the blandest beige I’ve ever seen. And the trim is another shade of beige (yay). It’s just middle-of-the-road and boring. Even our front door was beige, which left the outside looking so flat and one…

DIY Outdoor Boot Rack

April 6, 2016 | 1 Comment

I hate mud. I hate wood floors and mud. I hate kids and mud. I’m type-A, after all, and messes freak me out. When we moved to Colorado from California, I realized I had a new battle to deal with: winter boots covered in snow and mud that just wouldn’t quit – oh, and 3…

Sprucing up the outdoors for spring and summer

March 23, 2016 | Leave a Comment

Ok, so technically it is in the 30s right now and I have about 2 feet of snow blocking a good portion of my windows. But I won’t let winter’s last storms get me down; I’m thinking about sunshine and spring and backyard barbecues. It’s on its way, so I might as well begin preparations,…

Our Antique Farmhouse Table & Chairs

January 13, 2016 | 1 Comment

Ever since we moved into our house in April 2015, I have wanted a new dining room table and chairs. Not only had my taste significantly changed from when we first purchased our modern-styled set some 4 or 5 years ago, but it really didn’t fit the space available in our new house. Our table…

I get it. It's a little weird. But the girls I've I get it. It's a little weird.
But the girls I've seen do it best, look adorable.

I think it looks best with an oversized tee or sweatshirt, tennies or slides, and a small crossbody bag.

You can't argue with comfort.

For the record, these are women's sleep shorts that I've had a couple of years from Old Navy. If you buy actual men's boxers, you might consider sewing up the pee pocket 😜

Don't spend a lot on this trend; these shorts are made from the thinnest of fabric and shouldn't cost much. Don't be fooled by a retailer that wants you to spend just because it's trendy.

But if you see some cute boxers and want to give it a go - then do! Bonus - if/when the trend ends, you'll have pajamas on the ready 👏

It's solid weekend wear, but I'm not going out to dinner in it...

Another project down in my son's room! I knew I w Another project down in my son's room!

I knew I wanted some sort of built-in feature in this bedroom, but it was hard to figure out what, because we turned it into an active space where he could run and play and needed a lot of room.

So I settled on a built-in bookcase with the slatted design feature, which I'm in love with!

The best part about it is that if he ever decides to upgrade his bed, the space will also accommodate a full or queen size bed going in the opposite direction. It adds so much interest to this room and hopefully will be here for a long time!

One of the things I love most about DIY projects is figuring out how to make something - it's like a giant puzzle. I saw photos of these slotted wall room dividers on Pinterest and just figured it out as I went. All in all, I had very few hiccups and it only took me a few hours to put together. I think I only cursed once?!? And so I call that an extreme DIY win...

Now that the sports wall, the climbing wall, and the built-in feature are complete, the last thing to do in here is some additional painting. I'm thinking of using a contrasting blue color for the closet doors and back side of the built-in, and perhaps trimming out the window with it as well. Then I need to switch out the light for a fan and this.room.is done 🙌

Details: I used two IKEA billy bookshelves, screwed together and secured to the wall. Then wrapped them in white oak plywood. I ripped down 2x4s into 1.5x1.5" square dowels (heavily sanded!) and used pocket holes on the back side of each to secure to the bookshelf and the 1x4 in the ceiling. It's very sturdy!

This climbing wall took half a day and cost under This climbing wall took half a day and cost under $100!

We are lucky enough to have 13' ceilings in our bedrooms, so a climbing wall seemed to make sense in my son's room as we worked on the remodel.

He is a super active kid with #ADHD, so his room redo has involved lots of activity spaces! Go back in my reels to see past projects and follow to see me finish this up!
