I just returned from Las Vegas this morning where my husband and I had a wonderful 5-year anniversary celebration. It was a blissful 4 days without our daughter (whom we missed very much), full of relaxation, fun, and food (buffets, anyone?).
When you’re spending your money on diapers instead of yourself living on a budget, you sometimes have to be creative with your wardrobe. I like to remix the dresses I own by pairing them with different pieces and accessories to give myself more options when my closet is looking a little bare.
I thought I’d show you how I remixed this simple floral dress that I bought from Target the other day ($24.99). It’s easy to create 4 different looks with just one dress and some basic staples.
Mixing patterns can be tricky and a little intimidating. But I’ve always been a huge fan of floral on floral, floral and stripes, stripes and polka dots, etc.; it just has to be done the right way.
This past weekend I went on a bit of a shopping spree. I was out by myself (*gasp*) while my husband so graciously watched my daughter, and I think I subconsciously didn’t want the experience to end… I ended up going to Tall Mouse craft store, two Goodwill’s, and Cost Plus World Market. Isn’t it amazing how much you can get done without a toddler?
Today my husband, daughter, and I are headed to the fair. I felt like being thematic, so I went for a bit of a “country” feel (about as country as a SoCal girl can get, that is)… and I decided to hop on board the tie-front shirt trend that I’ve been seeing on some of my favorite blogs like Ask The Duplex and The Concrete Catwalk. I feel so 1994!
Since I’m a bit of a reality show junkie, I’m very familiar with Lauren Conrad (or, βLC,β if you’re cool like me). Her rise to fame began with the MTV reality show Laguna Beach, followed by her own spin off, The Hills. Now Lauren designs several different clothing lines; one for Kohl’s, which I’m a big fan of, and a new line that just debuted called paper crown.
It’s happened again. Colored jeans seems to go in and out every few seasons, and it looks like they are βinβ once again. I’ve always had a hard time jumping on the bandwagon, because all I can think about are the awful dark green ones I had in elementary school that I wore with a hideous floral child-size onesie… (remember when those stretchy bodysuits were in style? The ones that snapped at the crotch? Why did anyone think it was ok to wear a onesie passed the age of toddlerhood? But I digress…)
This week, I’m sharing the outfit I wore last Friday on date night. The Mr. and I went to dinner and a movie; considering how long it’s been since we had a date, it was amazing!
Happy Hump Day! (That never gets any less weird to say)
It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Wednesday! To join in the fun, or to see what everybody else is wearing, head on over to The Pleated Poppy!
